WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This program is designed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
OVERVIEW: This course focuses on integration of manual therapy techniques in the acute care setting to assist with gait, mobility of extremities and pain modulation. Participants will review and practice manual techniques that can assist in their patient’s recovery.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Review current trends of manual therapy in physical therapy;
- Review biomechanics and arthrokinematics of the gait cycle;
- Review and practice joint mobilizations techniques of the lower extremity;
- Review and practice manual therapy techniques to assist with pain modulation; and
- Review and practice manual therapy techniques to assist with mobility.

MEET YOUR FACULTY: Gus Gutierrez, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, SVP Gonzales Clinical Director, Baton Rouge Physical Therapy-Lake
Gus graduated from the LSU School of Allied Health in 1986. Eight years later, he completed the Gulf Coast Graduate Institute of Manual Therapy Residency Program, focusing on advanced evaluation and treatment of orthopedic conditions with the use of mobilization and manipulative techniques. Since graduation Gus has been working at BRPT-Lake, a multi-clinic private practice that specializes in the treatment of orthopedic patients and sports-related injuries. He has more than 33 years of clinical experience, has worked with athletes on all levels, and has used Astym® treatment since 2001 on a wide variety of orthopedic patients.
Charlotte Martin, MPA, Executive Director, Louisiana Physical Therapy Board
Charlotte is the current Chair of the FSBPT Council of Board Administrators (CBA) and Board Assessment Task Force and the former Chair of the FSBPT Foreign Educated Standards Committee. She is a National Certified Investigator and Inspector through the Council on Licensure, Enforcement & Regulation (CLEAR).

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations received in writing up to one week prior to a scheduled event will be charged a cancellation fee of $40 (per person, per event). Registrants who are unable to attend an LHA educational event are permitted to, and encouraged to send a substitute without incurring a cancellation fee. Please send written notice of any substitutions prior to the scheduled event. Cancellations received less than one week prior to the scheduled event, or individuals who fail to attend will result in a non-refundable registration fee.
TRANSFER POLICY
Transfer requests must be in writing and received one week prior to the event to receive a credit to use at a later date. A $40 transfer fee will be charged. The LHA will hold your credit for a period of one year following the start date of the program for which you were originally registered. Transfer requests received less than one week prior to event will result in a non-refundable registration fee.
